In 2014, The De Pree Art Center & Gallery of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, received sixteen boxes of Harry Brorby's personal documents, drawings, and ephemera. The West Michigan painter, printer, and sculptor, Harry Brorby, was a noteworthy and respected artist in the 1960s (whose work is part of the permanent collections of the MoMA and Walker Art Center to name a few). Through an active and thoughtful investigation of his archives, 10 students at Hope College seek to understand Brorby's prolific career within the context of Contemporary Art and, moreover, the notion of artistic legacy and collective cultural memory. This site is a digitization of their research.
